(GIST donates technology to supply drinking water to area affected by climate change)
- Device (Gravity driven membrane) was donated to Fiji and Kiribati which suffered from abnormal climate effect, required by WHO.
- Small-scale system that allows for optimal filtering and removing pathogenic microorganisms and heavy metals depending on where the system is implemented
- Selected as one of the 15 emerging global cooperation technologies by the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT)
- Plan to expand supplies by collaborating with Korea's governmental and non-governmental organizations
CASE 1
- Fiji was devastated by a cyclone was occurred climate change effect.
- Requried by WHO in March 2016 and installed in July 2016.
CASE 2
- Kiribati, with a population of 100,000, is in existential crisis due to rising sea level caused by climate chage, and water borne diseases such as diarrhea is rampant because of polluted drinking water.
